After Work Race Card At Raffelberg Makes Hungry For More

After the successful season opener with more than 5,600 visitors, Racing Club Mülheim has a special surprise for its after work raceday this coming Monday (start of the event for the card of nine races is 2:30 (start of 1st race 4:00). In addition to exciting horse racing, culinary diversity is the focus at Raffelberg racecourse that day.

Australian star Revelstoke visits Mülheim - more than 40,000 euros in prize money in nine races

In the opening race, the Australian-owned top-class three-year-old Revelstoke from the successful racing stables of Andreas Wöhler (Gütersloh) will enter to the starting gates. But with local hero Molly Massimo (trainer Jens Hirschberger/ Jockey Adrie de Vries) there is also a horse with a talented reputation amongst the opponents.

This race was taken from Cologne's Saturday card where it would have been cancelled otherwise. Vice president Günther Gudert comments: “We, above all Mr. Ellerbracke as president of the racing club, have decided to take over this race out of the interest of the entire sport of horse racing. It is an important preparatory race, especially in light of the Mehl-Mülhens-Rennen, so it was important to Mr. Ellerbracke that this race takes place. In addition, we are able to offer our visitors the live experience of an exceptional horse at our facility and are happy to have helped out the Australian owners.“

Another sportive highlight are the three-year-old fillies. Miss Fave under Adrie de Vries for Gestuet Weiherwiesen (trainer William Mongil) and debuting Nagira (trainer Yasmin Almenräder/jockey Michael Cadeddu) are the local contenders of interest in this race.

The 2100 metre challenge for the derby crop has generated an interesting field with three contenders from local quarters competing. Noble Campaign (Yasmin Almenräder) could be a highly rated number for owners Stall Baltrum around Michael Bergmann, the racing club director. Trainer Jens Hirschberger has Magadan in the race and trainer William Mongil's Sturmzeit is another hopeful for Mülheim's interests in this race. Noble Campaign and Magadan have nominations for the German derby.

A €10,000 Superfecta

In addition to two races in the middle handicap class, amateur riders will also be competing in a run to the Sport-Welt-Talent-Trophy (4th race, 5:25). Interesting for bettors: the 7th race on the card, the Lady Marian Rennen at 7 p.m., guarantees a €10,000 Euro payout for the lucky winner(s) hitting the superfecta.

A total of 79 horses have been entered in nine races. For Raffelberg interests Jens Hirschberger entered 3 horses, Yasmin Almenräder and William Mongil have 2 starters each, while old master Bruce Hellier is represented with 1 contender.

Creative Mülheimers successful in name search

After the third race we will introduce you to a very special horse in the showing ring. Last year, we had asked for name suggestions for this young galloper with the help of the Mülheim press. Now we will reveal the secret of the numerous entries and introduce you to the two-year-old race horse owned by Werner Krüger (UNIA Racing) and trainer Yasmin Almenräder. Don't miss this one!

Streetfood market with a larger offer

From Polish shashlik to Asian delicacies to the most varied potato specialities, pasta, duck or chicken, the streetfood market leaves nothing to be desired. Or rather a delicious currywurst? Desserts such as award-winning ice cream, waffles and/or crepes are also served. Also, the coffee selection is second to none when it comes to the after work racing. Our visitors also get their money's worth with beer and various cocktails.

Günther Gudert, vice president of the Racing Club Mülheim, is looking forward to the colourful mixture of racing and entertainment for the whole family: “This time we are offering our visitors an extended selection of numerous delicacies on streetfood trucks to make our event even more interesting for young and old. And our little fans may also enjoy free pony riding, the 9 x 6 m large and 7 meter tall Formula 1 slide or rodeo riding with Medl Gmbh. Naturally, we are hoping for a great turn out.“
