The racing club "Rennclub Mülheim an der Ruhr e.V." was newly founded on December 2, 2017 by 14 passionate friends of horse racing, after the board of the "old racing club" had acted against the interests of its members for much of the past 10 years and watched the downfall of horse racing in Mülheim with true apathy.
The founding members' objective was not only to save horse racing and the jobs associated with it, but also to preserve this fantastic facility in the heart of the city for the sake of the sport itself as well as the citizens, with the goal to renovate it in the coming years.
On February 1, 2018, the insolvency administrator of the "old racing club", with the approval of the politics of the city of Mülheim, handed over the facility to the newly founded racing club. Implementing an existing concept and business plan, the new racing club has since then begun to refurbish the facility. From the start, racecourse inspector Karl "Kiki" Trybuhl has done an excellent job as he has cleared the track of rubbish and old rubble with the help of his team and the support of Man-Power. More than 200,000 euros have since been invested for further renovation work on the facility.
This will continue step by step over the next few years. The racecourse facility at Mülheim Raffelberg is once again to blossom into what it once was: A top-class training centre and a family-friendly racecourse for all citizens.
